Why do you choose your major (II) ?

I chose to become a mechanical engineering major because I was luckily admitted to the Ming-Chi Institute of Technology, though I was not doing well in taking the senior high school entrance exam. Still, I am wondering why my exam scores were far poorer than the mock tests.

At first, I did not like my major; however, later I had grown fond of it, because of the following reasons. First, I had found some subjects to become more and more interesting to me, such as Dynamics, Manufactures, and Materials. Second, from the course, “Factory Practice”, I have learned about the difference between theory in the text book and practice in real life. For example, I have come to know that it is not easy to mange a factory. Third, my uncles would usually tell me something about how to make a new product manufactured by machine and my teachers have also taught me about the importance of manufacturing techniques. That is why I have got more and more interest in my major courses.

Now, as I enjoy my major more than ever, I am convinced of my right choice. As an old saying goes, “One may distinguish himself in any trade”, I think as long as one tries his best to do what he has chosen to do, he will overcome all the problems or obstacles to finally achieve his study goal.

English Cafe :

I joined English Cafe last week with my cousin. As before, the square is occupied with lots of students, but after I signed in and look around, I found no one I could know. The only one I knew is my cousin!!! Fortuanately, Tallking in English is a great way to communicate with others. I joined a table which have already had 4 guys there, I feel a little awkward at first, but the concentration of talking in English make me quickly involved them. A few mins later, one guy left the table, and a new guy joined us, when he came in, the host was going to have a drink, and the others were doing their questionair, so I lead the guy to talk just like I was the host there, it made me feel confident and impressed.

Playing tennis :

I played tennis with my friends todays's morning. Actually, I have known many guys who also like play tennis, so I played not only with my friends but also the other guys no matter I know them or not. I found playing tennis is a good way to meet and make friends.I had a tennis physical education class last semester, I found that I make a tiny progress in smashing and running step, and I still have huge space to improve. I hope I can play more and more artful.

The robots are coming :

Some of the robots exist simply to amuse. For example, used technology that trickled down from the military and NASA to create Robosapien, a cartoonish humanoid with cutting edge capabilities. Standing around 61 cm tall, he can perform 80 functions, including discodancing, kicking and kung fu. I think we're seeing the arrival of conversational robots that can walk in our world. It's a golden age of invention. Can conscious robots be far off?
